Be Just You

Scared to be alone,
frightened to be so close
something too strange that you haven’t known before--
so different that tears stream; down your face.

Should you ever reach that place
would you ever be afraid
would you ever be so calm
would you ever be just you?
be just you?

Always a reason to go
is never a reason to leave.
Something to keep you down
with your eyes on above.
Never a reason to stay
is always a reason come.
Nothing to keep you up
with your eyes on the ground.

Should you ever reach that place
would you ever be afraid
would you ever be so calm
would you ever be just you?
be just you?

The hand holds yours
closer than you’ve felt
something different than before
‘cause it’s not what happened then.

Truth to tell that comfort’s lost
truth to say that it’s so close
truth to think about it all
truth to grab that hand and fall.

Should you ever reach that place
would you ever be afraid
would you ever be so calm
would you ever be just you?
be just you?
Would you ever be just you?
be… just you?
Now before y'all go claiming you know what this is about, or you have a guess, or you even want to ask what it's about here's the simple answer:

This poem is about being who you are. In any instance, with anyone (i.e. friend, significant other, God, etc). I thought about all as I wrote it, so please don't claim total inspiration, nor total abscence.

If you have no idea what I mean, and you never thought any of that in the first place you get a free question answered that you didn't even have to ask! And please don't take it the wrong way... the "you" can be me, or it can be you, the reader. "You" is a strange subject.

Hope you like it! (Comment please... I want to know what people think).
